Buckyball Workshop
The Buckyball Workshop for middle-school students will be held at 9 am – 11 am on Saturday, October 5, in Room 3504 of the FSU Health and Wellness Center (HWC). The workshop leader will be Dr. Jonathan Hare. The students will learn to assemble the Carbon-60 molecule, using a molecular model kit. The structure of this unique molecule was first developed by Sir Harold W. Kroto, who shared the 1996 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for the discovery of the Buckminsterfullerene. Prof. Kroto was a many-year member of the FSU Chemistry and Biochemistry Department, where he spearheaded several outreach efforts with the goal to bring science to schools and general public.
