Zhicheng Jin was awarded the first prize in “the Ocean Insight Young Investigator Award” in the Colloidal Nanoparticles for Biomedical Applications XV at SPIE 2020 (photo gallery here).
This competitive award is given for the best contributed papers presented by a leading author who is either a graduate student or has graduated within less than five years. First Prize consists of a $1,000 cash prize for the Young Investigator and $2,000 Ocean Insight equipment credit for the laboratory where the work was performed.
Zhicheng Jin is currently a fifth-year graduate student at FSU and is working on nanoparticle functionalization under Professor Hedi Mattoussi. The work that he presented at the SPIE conference is about using the same motif “thiols” to realize both the stabilization and reactivity of nanomaterials.
In addition to the 2020 winner, two of our former FSU students have received this award are: Wentao Wang (1st Prize Award 2016) and Anshika Kapur (2nd Prize Award 2018).
