Current Graduate Students
Matthew C. Ellis
Materials Chemistry (2016)
Matthew Ellis is a United States Army veteran who graduated from SUNY College at Cortland in NY in 2016 with a B.S. in Chemistry and a minor in Mathematics. During his undergraduate career, Matt was involved with undergraduate research in many fields of chemistry: Physical (Dr. Karen Downey), Organometallic (Dr. Andrew Roering), Biochemistry (Dr. Nicole Sampson), and Organic (Dr. Venkat Chebolu). Matt was published in the International Journal of Quantum Chemistry resulting from the work completed at Cortland. He was also involved with local STEM outreach programs. Matt joined the Strouse Lab Group in Fall 2016 as a joint student with Dr. Naresh Dalal and Dr. Stephen McGill at the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory due to his interests in spectroscopy and materials chemistry. He is currently studying the fundamental properties of multiferroic metal-organic frameworks and lanthanide-doped nanoparticles for use as lasing materials in the visible spectrum. Contact Matt!
Sanath K. Ramakrishna
Materials Chemistry (2016)
Sanath Ramakrishna graduated from Bangalore University in 2011 with a M.S. in Physics. He worked as a project fellow at the Indian Institute of Science from 2012-2016 synthesizing and characterizing non-linear optical and magnetic materials. He also conducted studies on these materials using SQUID and PPMS. Sanath is currently working on experimental condensed matter NMR to study the spin dynamics in multiferroic materials near magnetic and ferroelectric transitions. Contact Sanath!
