Chromatography is a technique used in chemistry to separate molecules by their size, mass or chemical composition. Amino acids are components of proteins, one of the main biochemical building blocks in our bodies. In this experiment, we will use the physical and chemical characteristics of amino acids to separate and identify an unknown mixture of amino acids by use of paper chromatography. |
